The Single Arm Throw

The single arm throw is used when you have a net with a radius of five feet. If you are a leftie, use your left hand to throw the cast net. If you are right handed, use that arm.

Whatever hand you use for throwing the net, be sure that you make a loop and place it around your wrist first before you throw it. Make several loops, too, of the throw line. Allow these loops to hang loose in your throwing hand.

If the net has a ring, place that in your throwing hand palm down.

Swing your body to the opposite side of your target area. Rotate slowly and throw your net. This should circulate in the air to hit the area. Pull the line of the net in order to close it as soon as you have hit your target.

The Two Arm Throw

In learning how to throw a cast net, you would learn that the two arm throw is used for larger cast nets around six feet or more for its radius.

Unlike the single arm throw, this procedure would require you to use both hands in throwing the net. Follow the steps for the single arm throw and be sure that you coil the line in loops and hold them with both hands. Go ahead and make more loops if needed until you see that you can grab the horn of the net.

The difference is in throwing the net. You raise the net and hold it with your free hand at the height level of the pocket of your pants. Transfer that part to your throwing hand and have your other hand grab the entire net. In that position, you should make sure that the lead line should be at the ground.

Next, divide the cast net in half. Grab one half with the lead line with one hand. The other hand should have the other half where the horn and the hand line.

Roll the cast net with your throwing hand by using your hand over your other hand’s thumb. Allow that hang loose. With the throwing hand, grab the the half with the lead line and place in between your teeth. You may also place it on your shoulders. Fold the netting that is hanging loose and place both hands up.
