Ways to Cook Shrimp

There are many ways to cook shrimp. Which method you use will depend on your personal preference. What all of them share is the ease with which they can be prepared.

How to Boil Shrimp


2 tbsp of salt
½ oz of shrimp (prepared)
1 sliced lemon
1 onion (medium)


Start by putting 1 and a half quarts of water in a container. Add all the ingredients in the container except for the shrimp. Cover and let it boil. Put the shrimp in the container when it has boiled. Put the cover and let it boil again. Reduce the heat level. After boiling, allow it to simmer for 5 minutes or until the shrimp turns pink.

When using this way to cook shrimp, you can utilize a variety of sauces, but red sauce is the usual dip. Red sauce is made up of catsup, a tsp of horseradish and a bit of onion. Just combine the ingredients and mix it.

How to Fry Shrimp


Shrimps (fresh)
Cracker meal
1 tsp of salt
2 eggs
1 tsp of oil


Remove the head and devein the shrimp. Rinse it and sprinkle some salt in it. Toss the eggs in a bowl. Beat it and add the shrimp. Put the shrimp in the cracker meal. This is one of the easiest ways to cook shrimp. You just put the shrimp in the fridge for an hour and deep fry it at 350 F. You’re done when the shrimp gets brown.

Note: deveining means removing the dark string in the shrimp. Just cut it off with a knife. Depending on your tastes, the head may or may not be removed.

How to Bake Shrimp


2 lbs of shrimp
½ tsp of salt
3 tbsp of grated cheese
¼ tbsp of pepper
¼ cup of white wine (optional)
1 can of cranberry juice
½ cup of bread crumbs
2 tsp of parsley flakes


This is another one of the most popular ways to cook shrimp. Start by taking out the shell and devein it. Pour all the ingredients in a bowl except the shrimp. Mix the ingredients in a bowl.

Slice the shrimp open and stuff the mixture in it. Set the shrimp on the baking sheet. Add some butter to the shrimp. Bake it for 20 minutes at 450 degrees F.

Shrimp with Curry


1 lb of shrimp (cooked)
1 tsp of curry powder
2 tbsp of butter
1 onion
1 can of mushroom soup
1/3 tsp of salt
1/3 cup of sour cream
½ cup of seedless raisins


Sauté the onion and add the mushroom sauce and curry. Toss in the raisins. Add the shrimp and salt it. Heat it for a few minutes and toss in the sour cream. You can eat the dish as is, but it can also be taken with some rice.

These are just some of the many ways to cook shrimp. With enough experience, you’ll be able to come up with your own techniques.
