How to Cook Catfish

Catfish is one of the bony and nutritious fishes that belong to the Siluriformes order. Many people like to eat this fish because it is rich in vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. Blackened Catfish and Lemon Butter

The ingredients in this delectable and special dish include four catfish fillets, a teaspoon of olive oil and 1/3 pound bacon. In addition to these ingredients, you will need two teaspoons of garlic powder, two teaspoons of thyme, a tablespoon of white pepper, a tablespoon of black pepper, a tablespoon of cayenne pepper, a tablespoon of lemon pepper, two teaspoons chili powder, two teaspoons of crushed rosemary as well as a tablespoon of crushed fennel seed. Aside from these, you will use a teaspoon of allspice, a teaspoon of oregano and ½ teaspoon salt.

For the lemon butter, you will need ¼ cup melted butter, a teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon Tabasco and ½ cup of sliced green onions. Combine all the ingredients for the lemon butter and mix thoroughly. Set aside.

Mix all the ingredients except for bacon, fish fillets and olive oil. Grease fish fillets with olive oil. Coat the fish fillets with the spices. Fry bacon. Chop the bacon. Fry the fish fillets. Arrange the fish in a clean plate and garnish with chopped bacon. Serve the dish with lemon butter.

Beer Battered Catfish

The dish contains three pounds catfish, ¼ cup cornmeal, ¼ cup flour, two beaten eggs, a small can of beer, ¼ cup minced onion, three cups vegetable oil, ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper. Mix all the ingredients except for the fish and vegetable oil in a small bowl. Put the fish in the mixture and cover it with the batter. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Deep fry fish until the color of the seafood turns golden brown. Remove from the skillet and place on a strainer to remove excess oil. Arrange the fish in a clean plate and serve with side dish as well as a cup of rice.
