How to Cook Corn on the Cob

Also known as long maize, pole corn and sweet pole, corn on the cob is a term commonly used by culinary experts to refer to a freshly picked sweet corn. The most popular methods of cooking corn on the cob are grilling, steaming and boiling. To enjoy this delicious crop and to know how to cook corn on the cob, it is important to have ideas about the various recipes that are very simple and easy to prepare. Below are the simple steps that you can use when grilling, boiling and steaming the crop.

Grilling the Crop

Remove excess and loose husk and silk. Place the crop in a small bowl and submerse under water for 20 minutes before grilling. Prepare the grill. Get the corn on the cob and pour out excess water. Put the crop on the grill and cover the grill. Cook each side of the crop for 10 minutes to 15 minutes. Use the tongs to remove the crop from the grill. Remove the husk and brush the corn with butter and sprinkle salt to enhance the taste. You can also season the crop with garlic powder to make it tastier.

Steaming the Crop

Remove the husks of corn on the cob. Wash it with cold water to remove silk. Get a small pot and heat it over medium fire. Pour half liter of water in the pot. Wait for the water to boil. Put the crop on a steamer rack. Put the rack on the pot. Cover the pot. Steam it for 10 minutes and remove the cover. Steam for another 10 minutes. Wash the tongs. Use the tongs to remove steamed corn on the cob. Spread butter on the corn and drizzle salt and garlic powder to make it more delectable and scrumptious.

Boiling the Crop

Get two corn on the cob and remove the husks and silk. Wash the corn in the sink. Heat a medium size pot over low heat. Pour a liter of water in the pot. Wait for the water to boil. Put the corn on the cob in the pot. Cover the pot. If you want the corn to be soft, you can cook for five minutes to 10 minutes. Remove from the pot and brush the corn with butter or margarine.
