So what do you need to bear in mind in learning how to make a pillowcase?

The Size

One of the steps in learning how to make a pillowcase is to consider what size you want your pillowcases to be. Once you have that in mind, you can gauge how long would be the fabric you are going to use in learning how to make a pillowcase.

The Appropriate Cut

Fabric pieces that you are to use for your sewing project should have the appropriate cut you need. So, measure your fabric and cut only the proper amount you need to make your pillowcases. Then, fold it in half lengthwise. Make sure that you have the finished portion on the inner part.

The Manner of Sewing the Fabric

Next thing to do would be to sew your fabric material. Sew along the sides and the short ends of the cloth. Then, turn it right side out.

Stitching it Right

To keep the edges of your fabric from fraying, do not forget to stitch the entire end that is opened. It would be best to use a serge or zigzag stitch for a better hold.

The Hem

Fold a very small part of the fabric, about a half inch, to make a hem on the open side of the material. Iron it flat and sew using a straight stitch.

Toward the inside of the material, make a four inch hem. Sew around the bottom edges still using a straight stitch.

Decorate your pillowcases if you desire. You can add a satin ribbon, buttons, or lace to decorate the outer part. You’re done!

That’s what you need to do to learn how to make a pillowcase. Simple, isn’t it?
