Ways to Cook Lobster

If you aren’t familiar with the ways to cook lobsters, there’s no need to worry. The procedures are actually easy to follow. As long as you’re equipped with the ingredients, the preparations are straightforward.

How to Grill Lobsters

Begin by taking out the lobster’s tail and innards. The innards will include the liver, intestines and the stomach. You can identify the stomach with its dark green color. Some people like to take out the roe, but others don’t. It’s up to you.

Turn on the grill. Place the claw on the hottest section of the grill. Spray some salt on it. If you’re using this way to cook lobsters, you need to grill for 3 minutes. Sometimes a flare up can occur. Just move the lobster to another part of the grill. Put the lobster in the original spot when the flame goes down.

How to Steam Lobsters

Make sure the steamer doesn’t let any air through. Also make sure the cover is sturdy. If you’re going to cook several lobsters, use a slow cooker.


1 bay leaf
1 onion
1 stalk of celery
2 tsp of peppercorn
Salt and water (1 tbsp of salt for every quart of water)


This is one of the easiest ways to cook lobsters. Just toss all the ingredients (except the lobsters) in the steamer / slow cooker. Add the salt and water. Let the ingredients boil and then add the lobsters. Cover it and cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Add more water if necessary, but don’t put in any more salt.

How to Broil Lobsters

Preparations are the same as when grilling. However the lobsters need to be at least 7 inches from the flame. Broil it with the cut side facing down. Cook it for 4 minutes. Turn the lobster over when it turns red. Put on some butter and cook it for another 3 minutes.

Other Ways to Cook Lobsters

To bake lobsters, prepare it like you would broil it. Heat the oven to 450 F to bake it. Don’t forget to use the salt and water
mentioned earlier.

To steep lobsters, mix ½ cup of vinegar for every 8 parts of water. Put this in a pot. Boil it and put in the lobsters. Cover it. Let the lobster steep for 3 minutes (for every 2 lbs of lobsters). Remove the claws. Put the claws back in after 5 minutes. Devein the lobster and take out the meat from the claw. Let it cool for 5 minutes.

Note: you can serve lobsters with a variety of garnishing and side dishes, but some like to eat it as it is. When steeping lobsters, you need to make sure there’s plenty of water in the pot. Of course, the quality of the lobsters will be the deciding factor regardless of the cooking methods you use.
